Islamabad: The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) on Monday (November 10) approved five development projects worth PKR 140 billion, news sources reported. Of the total budget approved, PKR 130 billion will be spent on construction of road infrastructure and carriageway rehabilitation in Punjab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following projects were approved during the meeting:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 PKR 450 million were approved for the upgradation and rehabilitation of the National Institute of Health, Islamabad to increase its capacity to handle COVID-19 cases. The project will be co-funded by the Asian Development Bank and Bank of France <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 PKR 2.652 billion have been approved for the Rehabilitation of Karachi Port Trust (KPT) and Rail Connectivity Project (phase-1). The project includes the restoration of an existing track along a vital part of Pakistan Railway from KPT to Karachi Cantt, as well as the construction of a new track to link to the Mainline (ML-1)<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 PKR 6.06 billion have been approved for the construction of two roads in Balochistan.  The roads to be built are the 20-kilometer-long Sibi-Talli Road and the 80-kilometer-long Kohlu-Rakhni Road

\u2022 A total of PKR 130 billion has been approved for the Punjab Arterial Roads Improvement Programme (PARIP), which would involve the rehabilitation of Punjab’s existing roads and carriageways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The proposal will be formally approved by the National Economic Council’s Executive Committee (ECNEC). Once approved, the PARIP project will be executed by the Planning and Development (P&D) Board, Punjab.   <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
