Taxila: Rawalpindi Division Director Water Management Dr Mohammad Iqbal Chauhan on Saturday (November 13) said 573 mini-dams had been constructed across the Rawalpindi division <\/a>during the last three years, of which 216 are in Attock district. While talking with the media personnel, he said that the construction of these mini-dams would not only address the growing water needs of the city but will also increase the groundwater level. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also said that the government is installing a drip irrigation system in Attock and Rawalpindi district<\/a>s that will help irrigate 5,000 acres and 20,000 acres of land in both districts, respectively.\u00a0 Similarly, he assured that, in addition to these drip systems, the water board is constructing 996 lift irrigation schemes, as well as wells, to irrigate cultivable areas in the division. Furthermore, according to the director, the province administration is dedicated to addressing water issues and is building sprinklers for irrigation with a 60% subsidy in Rawalpindi and Attock districts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
