The 43-kilometre-long dual track of the Urban Rail Mass Transit System will be built on a public-private partnership (3P) model on 33 years built-operate-transfer basis.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Read:\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.zameen.com\/news\/connect-kcr-brt-lines.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Pakistan Railways plans to connect KCR with BRT lines<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to reports, the meeting approved the funding and requested that the project be cleared for 3P implementation by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zameen.com\/news\/cdwp-refers-kcr-construction-ecnec.html\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"79887\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC<\/a>). The project will be completed in three years, according to the amended timeframe. The following will be the major features of the project:\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>It will accommodate 457,000 people each day, with a total of one million passengers projected by the conclusion of the 33-year concession tenure\u00a0<\/li><li>The project will begin from Karachi City Station and end at Port, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zameen.com\/news\/kcr-22-level-crossings-eliminated.html\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.zameen.com\/news\/kcr-22-level-crossings-eliminated.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">with 30 stops in between<\/a>.\u00a0<\/li><li>There will be electric trains running along the line six days a week.\u00a0 The federal government will cover 40% of the revised project cost, with the remaining funds contributed by private partners.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p> <strong>Read:\u00a0<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zameen.com\/news\/kcrs-proposal-transaction-structures.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Govt approves KCR\u2019s project proposal, transaction structures<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the project&#8217;s concept, the government would either lease off 13 of Pakistan Railways assets for 99 years to fund the project, with the profits going to railroads. If the railways disagree, the federal government will fund the project under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP).
