Islamabad: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Energy and Power Department, Irrigation Department, Public Health Engineering Department has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) for the construction of a dam<\/a> for Nashpa Greater Water Supply Scheme (NGWSS) in Karak district, according to a news story published on April 29.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As per the details, the people of Nashpa Block have been facing a shortage of drinking water. There is no groundwater potential to set up tube wells or deep wells, nor the area has any perennial spring to develop a water supply scheme. To provide safe drinking water to the 11 villages of Nashpa, it was decided to construct a dam where the gravity flow could be maintained.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reportedly, the project site of the proposed Nashpa Dam is situated 24-kilometre northeast of Karak city.
