The plan will increase the share of hydroelectric power from the current level of 9,406 megawatts to 20,591 megawatts.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Read:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zameen.com\/news\/wapda-boost-water-storage-capacity.html\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"85655\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">WAPDA to boost water storage capacity to 24 MAF<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to reports, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zameen.com\/news\/wapda-small-medium-dams.html\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"85932\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">WAPDA would add electricity in two phases<\/a> to raise the clean energy share of the total. The first phase will be completed by 2025, adding 2,960 megawatts to secure a total generation capacity of 12,366 megawatts. Another 8,225 megawatts will be added to the national power lines in the second phase, bringing the total to 20,591. The second phase will conclude in 2029.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In terms of total units generated, WAPDA presently generates 37 billion units of low-cost hydroelectric electricity. This figure will be increased to 54 billion by 2025 with the addition of 17 billion units of sustainable energy.
