Karachi: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Tuesday (July 12) forecast the second spell of heavy monsoon rains in Karachi from July 14 to 17, news sources reported. The PMD also warned of urban flooding <\/a>due to incessant rain spells during the period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to reports, the Met Office warned of an increased risk of urban floods as the monsoon’s heavy air current approached the country. As per the Met Office, monsoon currents from the Bay of Bengal are regularly reaching the upper and central areas of the country, according to the report, while another major monsoon low-pressure area (LPA) is expected to approach Sindh on July 14. (Thursday). This LPA is forecast to deliver torrential rains that will last for three days, causing flooding in cities across Sindh. According to the report, the same LPA would also cause rain in South Punjab and Balochistan.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Similarly, it is predicted that the rain will pour in the upper portions of the country from July 13 to 15, including Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), and the Central Punjab area. It is important to mention here that Karachi was submerged in water during the recent monsoon rains that started with the Eid holidays.
