Islamabad: The Pakistan Railways (PR) has leased out 4,687 acres of its land to various organisations in the last four years to achieve sustainable growth targets, news sources reported on August 22. Read: Pakistan Railways, Omani firm to collaborate for laying tracks According to reports, the land has been leased in Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta, Rawalpindi, Multan, and Sukkur divisions. According to authorities, the Ministry of Railways has also initiated operations to reclaim PR’s land from the illegal occupation of private and public individuals and enterprises. According to the spokesperson, the ministry has committed to recouping all of its lands in all four provinces to generate a profit. He also stated that measures are afoot to expedite legal cases and hearings about encroachments to regain the land as soon as possible. In this regard, the PR has formed teams of legal professionals to monitor court proceedings.
