Peshawar: The Asia Development Bank (ADB) has started rolling out the loan amount to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government under the Cities Improvement Project, news sources reported on August 24. The loan will be used to provide clean drinking water, sanitation services, and basic facilities in major cities across the province. As part of the deal, ADB will offer a USD 1 billion loan, the largest in the province’s history, for the two-phase city enhancement project. In the first phase, funds will be used to provide basic services in five major cities: Peshawar, Mardan, Abbottabad, Swat, and Kohat. These services would be upgraded further in the second phase in Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, and Peshawar BRT services.
