Lahore: The Pakistan Society of Internal Medicine (PSIM) on Sunday (August 28) pledged to construct 500 dwellings for flood victims in South Punjab, news sources reported. The association would also provide cattle to each family to support their livelihood. Read: Funds worth PKR 240bn reserved for South Punjab\u2019s uplift projects In this regard, the PSIM will work with the University of Health Sciences (UHS), Akhuwat, Alkhidmat Foundation, Women’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (WCCI)-Lahore, and other charitable organisations. In an interview with the media on Sunday, PSIM President Professor Javed Akram stated that his organisation will construct a 100-house community in Dera Ghazi (DG) Khan to rehabilitate flood victims. He stated that the project location will be chosen during their forthcoming trip to the area. He further stated that the rains had impacted many districts of Punjab, displacing millions of people. The rehabilitation of such a large number of people will be a major task that will be carried out in partnership with the government and international organisations.
