Islamabad: The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has decided to hire a private firm for the management and maintenance of Islamabad International Airport, news sources reported on September 26. Read: Public transport for Islamabad International Airport missing The decision was made owing to a shortfall of 100 workers over the last two years, after which the authorities involved were asked to fix the labour gap, which was causing sanitary issues. Following the decision, the IIA authorities will start the formal hiring procedure for an appropriate firm to perform the cleaning and maintenance work. The firm will manage its own staff and their contract will be renewed after regular intervals, subject to satisfactory performance. In wake of no new hiring and the new policy of allowing visitors with passengers, cleanliness issues have started to emerge. The hiring of a maintenance firm is expected to solve the problem.
