Islamabad: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has alerted taxpayers about ongoing fraudulent activities by groups to collect personal financial information, including credit card passwords, news sources reported on October 10.\u00a0 Read: FBR issues 1 mn notices to high net-worth individuals The top tax collector has warned citizens about attempts by individuals and groups of professional hackers to gain sensitive information from taxpayers via emails and phone calls. According to the notification, the FBR never sends direct emails from individual accounts and never requests personal identification numbers (PINs) and passwords from anybody in the pretext of verifying payment or return records. As a result, it has warned taxpayers against such approaches and recommended them not to click on a link that takes them to a phoney website that may appear legitimate.
