Islamabad: The government has allocated PKR 500 million for the resurrection of a Wildlife Conservation and Information Centre under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP<\/a> 2022-23), a news source reported on January 30.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As per the details, the incumbent government is keen on reviving the Islamabad Zoo as a wildlife rehabilitation facility and developing a wild species learning centre where the public and students will learn more about the indigenous species of Margalla Hills National Park (MNHP). It was revealed that two third of the land will be used for entertainment areas while the remaining area will be used for the rescue and rehabilitation centre at the zoo. Being the first of its kind where the rescued animal from across the country will be brought and medical care will be provided. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB) Chairperson Rina Saeed Khan shared that the national park is a repository of Asian leopards and pangolins. She went on to say that the blueprint of the wildlife centre is ready and the major land issue has also been resolved as the 25 acres of land was awarded to IWMB by the Capital Development Authority (CDA)and the No Objection Certificate (NOC) was issued.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As per the details, the wildlife centre will feature advanced technological solutions to provide information. The centre will be the first wildlife facility with a virtual reality feature, which will play high-tech movies and documentaries on daily basis.
