Karachi: Sindh Energy Minister Imtiaz Sheikh on Thursday (February 16) announced an across-the-board subsidy on 0.2 million solar power systems for domestic use, news sources reported. Minister Imtiaz made this announcement during a meeting with the WB Country Director for Pakistan Najy Benhassine. The project, according to the minister, aims to increase access to affordable, renewable energy for the general public and lessen reliance on costly fossil fuel-based power generation. In rural Sindh areas, the government would offer household subsidies totalling USD 160, while subsidies totalling USD 110 would be offered in urban areas per unit of the solar power system.
