Islamabad: The civic administration of district Islamabad has enforced measures to prevent forest fires and conserve the environment in Margalla<\/a> Hills National Park (MNHP), according to news published on April 10.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to details shared, there is now a ban on a wide range of activities and items including; bonfires, smoking, burning, littering, carrying flammable items (lighter, charcoal, matchsticks, petrol\/kerosene oil) and barbeques. The said ban is effective immediately and shall remain in effect for two months. The cutting of trees has also been prohibited in the Margalla Hills. The ban was prompted after the complaint filed by the Ministry of Climate Change, Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB), and Capital Development Authority (CDA) Environment Wing to the Deputy Commissioner\u2019s office stating that recreational activities lead to wildfires in the national park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The violators of this ban shall face a legal penalty in the Court of Magistrate, under the Code of Criminal Procedure 1898.
