Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has approved the hiring of a consultancy firm to link Margalla Avenue<\/a> with Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway (M-1) by constructing a 3.4-kilometre road section, according to news published on April 18.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reportedly, the proposed road section falls both in Rawalpindi (1.8-kilometre patch) and Islamabad (1.6-kilometre patch). The authority has hired Engineering Consultancy Services Punjab (ECSP) to develop the section that comes within the capital city\u2019s jurisdiction. The scope of ECSP\u2019s work will include detailed designing of the road project, its environmental impact assessment (EIA), estimation, create bidding documents, and oversee the construction of the road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was highlighted that CDA called bids from state-owned firms alone and the ECSP submitted its financial bid in March 2022 for the entire road, falling within both Islamabad and Rawalpindi. However, the consultancy firm revised its proposal for Islamabad\u2019s Road section in April and submitted a bid worth PKR 78.75 million for the 1.6-kilometre long patch in Islamabad. The CDA board approved the revised proposal in a recent meeting. The board also ordered the engineering wing to get the consultancy work started soon.
As per the working paper by the member engineering, the optimal benefit from Margalla Avenue is subjected to its connection to the M-1 motorway.
