Karachi: Sindh Caretaker Minister for Finance Mohammad Younus Dagha evaluated the progress on the ongoing construction of 2.1 million houses for flood victims in the province, as reported by news sources on August 24.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A meeting regarding this crucial initiative was convened at the Sindh Secretariat Tughlaq House, hosted by the Planning and Development (P&D) Department. In attendance were P&D Department Board Chairman Syed Hasan Naqvi, Sindh <\/a>People\u2019s Housing Scheme for Flood Affected People Chief Executive Officer Khalid Mehmood Sheikh, and other officials, who provided an update to the minister.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Minister Younus Dagha highlighted the significance of this massive endeavour, emphasizing the provincial government’s commitment to ensuring the timely construction of houses for those affected by the floods. He stressed the importance of swift action, stating that the verification process for 500,000 flood-affected houses had been completed and funds for their construction should be released promptly. The caretaker minister also urged for the remaining damaged houses to be verified as soon as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the briefing, it was revealed that each affected household would receive PKR 300,000, with a fixed period of six months for the completion of payment processing. Younus Dagha issued instructions for a step-by-step report on the construction progress during these six months. He highlighted the necessity of transparency and quality assurance in all aspects of payment and construction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Furthermore, the minister directed officials to expedite the documentation process, ensuring ownership rights for affected residents through the respective deputy commissioners. He emphasized the importance of effective supervision, involving relevant NGOs to guarantee the quality construction of houses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Minister Dagha reiterated that providing homes to flood victims remains a top priority for the Sindh government.
