Karachi: The Sindh<\/a> High Court (SHC) on Wednesday ordered the deputy commissioner (east), police and rangers to remove encroachments from the premises of a housing society, according to news published on October 19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A two-judge bench, led by Justice Nadeem Akhtar, instructed them to carry out the operation and submit compliance reports by November 14.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Pakistan Post Office Employees Cooperative Housing Society filed a petition in 2021, asserting that over 71 acres of their property in Scheme 33, Gulzar-i-Hijri, had been subject to encroachment since 2016.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In December of the previous year, the high court had directed the Rangers and police to provide support to the district administration in enforcing its orders. This came after the Deputy Commissioner and Senior Superintendent of Police for the East had reported that despite multiple attempts, encroachments could not be removed, prompting the request for additional force to reclaim the land.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During Wednesday’s hearing, a report from a nazir indicated that 71.12 acres of the petitioner society’s land remained encroached upon. The petitioner’s attorney pointed out a previous order from December 15 regarding the removal of encroachments from the society’s land.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The lawyers for the Pakistan Rangers, Sindh, and the Assistant Advocate General of Sindh assured the bench that the paramilitary force and local authorities would fully comply with the court’s earlier orders.
