Islamabad: Pakistan is seeking a USD $3.5 billion loan from Saudi Arabia to help build the Diamer-Bhasha Dam. During a visit by a Saudi delegation, Pakistani officials made the request, as reported by news sources. Saudi Arabia will review the proposal with their financial advisor before responding. According to details, the dam project costs USD 8 billion, with USD 4 billion coming from outside Pakistan. Pakistan has secured USD 500 million through a Euro Bond. Pakistan is asking for $2.3 billion from Saudi Arabia as a low-interest loan and an additional USD 1.2 billion as equity. Saudi Arabia has already contributed USD 240 million to the project.
