Though critics of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government often use its focus on infrastructure development in Lahore against it, even the harshest of them must agree that the vastly improved road networks in the city allow for much smoother flow of traffic (no political comments please!).<\/p>\n

After completing various overpasses and thoroughfares in record time, the Punjab government is now utilising Punjab University (PU)\u2019s land to build a road linking Allama Iqbal Town to Maulana Shaukat Ali Road, Faisal Town.<\/p>\n

According to a news source, PU has provided the land free-of-cost to the Lahore Development Authority (LDA). The authority will also build service roads to better utilise the varsity\u2019s land and to prevent traffic congestion later on.<\/p>\n

Initially, the PU administration had turned down the proposal to hand over its land for the construction of the road, however, now it has acquiesced to the government\u2019s demands and the development of the road is underway at good pace.<\/p>\n

In my view, this development will ease the daily traffic congestion on Khayaban-e-Jamia Punjab at peak hours, and it will also provide an easy approach to Karim Market, which is a popular shopping hotspot.<\/p>\n

Regardless of whether the government is doing well or not, the attention to road infrastructure at least smoothens the flow of traffic in Lahore. Below are some images of the development work currently underway:<\/p>\n
