Rawalpindi: The revised Rawalpindi Ring Road (R3) project plan is expected to soon receive endorsements from the Central Development Working Party (CDWP) and Executive Committee of National Economic Council (ECNEC), as reported on June 7. It has already been approved by the Planning and Development Department.

As per details, the Punjab government has committed PKR 4 billion to the Rawalpindi Ring Road project. Commissioner Aamir Khattak announced that additional funds will be allocated in the next fiscal year to ensure the project’s completion by December, adhering to the planned timeline. This year, Punjab has already allocated PKR 7.8 billion for the construction of the Rawalpindi Ring Road, following the acquisition of the necessary land.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The cost of the R3 project has increased from PKR 31 billion to PKR 38 billion. Spanning 38.3 kilometers from Baanth (G.T. Road) to Thalian , the project includes five interchanges at Baanth, Chak Beli Khan, Adiala Road, Chakri Road, and Thalian.
