Rawalpindi: Illegal construction activities, essentially those carried out in the absence of an approved map, continue in the cantonment board areas, a news source quoted statistics of the Building Control Department (BCD). According to these figures, 87 incidents of illegal construction were reported in March alone.
Reports submitted by the BCD’s filed staff show that several floors have been illegally constructed in various areas of Rawalpindi Cant. It is believed that the process of regularising structures by penalising those involved in illegal construction activities should be terminated as it encourages such practices.
