Peshawar: The Irrigation Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has started work on the rehabilitation of Uch Canal, according to a publication. The project, which is estimated to cost PKR 11,137.6 million, will be completed in June 2019.
Under this project, remodelling of many other canals will be done, while many more tunnels will be built to supply water. Furthermore, the KP Government will also amend existing grid stations to increase electricity supply from KV66 to KV132.
Rehabilitation of Uch Canal will provide 400 cusecs of additional water for irrigation purposes. The project will also provide 300 cusecs of drinking water to Peshawar. Additionally, it will also increase the water capacity of Warsak Gravity and Lift Canals.
