So, I've a residential plot of 2000 sq. ft., and am thinking about building a house on it and either rent it out or sell out. Kindly share your views on this sort of investment.

Depends on location. If it is located in an area close to where people have jobs for example Blue Area or Pindi Saddar or a location as central as G-13 or G-15, then you can get a good rent because people especially young families with corporate employments work nearby.
Dha and Bahria are also good choices for reasonable rent.
