I live in USA and want to invest in Islamabad, this is the first time I will be investing... Looking to invest around 50 lac... Any suggestion where to invest... Is F-16 good place to invest or not?

There are a number of things you need to consider before arriving at a decision. What would be the investment time frame? Risk Preferences? Residential or Commercial? Only investment or any chance to undertake construction subsequently? There are a fair number of options available for a 50 lakh budget.
Regarding F-16, everything depends on when construction starts. We have been hearing rumours about development for the last 3 years. Now we are hearing that it might start in Feb or march 2014. If development starts, prices will see a spike. If not, you are better off investing elsewhere.
F-16 is currently a big gamble as its reliant on when development starts. This could be next month, next year, or even in 3-4 years. Rumours have been swirling for a long time but most investors like myself are convinced that development shall start when new management are elected after new year.
There are better options than F-16 at the moment, you are better to diversify your portfolio and buy plots in different stratas of Islamabad. Try exploring Top City, Mumtaz City, AWT, B-17 Multi E block, CDECHS, Bahria Phase 8, Soan Garden, DHA Phase 2 Ext, ECHS, PECHS, Jinnah Garden, Naval Anchorage, DHA Valley...these are just a few to name, there are still plenty more. Hopefully these should give you a rough idea of what to look at, and investigate these housing schemes before investing. Best to buy a couple of small possession plots, as well as few files. Buy 4-5 plots each of 10 marla in Top City, for updates and news on Top City pls search on the internet, for prices you may ask dealers plus can see adds on Zamee.com and e.jang.com.pk Classadds daily.
Nasir although Top City is a good investment, you should never advise one to put all eggs in one basket. Maybe two plots in top city would be good and the rest elsewhere just to be secure
As you have a good budget go for E-16/17 , AWT , ECHS plus some file option.
