I thought kashmir highway was going to be signal free , hence many people coming to isb from that side of the city were enthusiastic and some housing schemes made it a point that commute would be so easy after completion of kashmir highway. But now there are ’ functioning’ signals along the raid that held me for quite some time even on a sunday morning. What would it be in rush hours ? So commuting is not that much fun after all .
The road will not be completely signal free as two signals (police lines & G-9) will remain. It is probably out of safety reasons due to the high speed of incoming vehicles which was making U-turns very dangerous. Peshawar more is being made signal free through a big flyover project as part of the metro project. Travel time has nevertheless been reduced substantially. I managed to reach Police lines signal from Tarnol interchange on motorway in just under 10 minutes recently! Its become a big plus for Zone 2.
