How many marlas is 3200 sq feet?

How many marlas is 3200 sq feet (356 sq yds)?

40x80 plot

40x80=3200 sq ft

3200/9= 356 sq yards

356/25= 14 marla

Marla is a unit of area prevalent in Indo Pak region for centuries.

1 Marla = 272 Sq Ft.

3200 Ft / 272 = 11.76 Marla.

But , in Islamabad region everyone has initiated its own brand of Marla and say that in Islamabad Marla is of 225 sq ft which is a lie. Marla is a standard unit of 272 sq ft.

And of the above two, the correct answer is …???

Both

In Islamabad, Marla system is not commonly used, plot size is referred to as dimensions in ft. Such as 50x90 (called 1 kanal), 40x80 (called 14 marla) 35x70 (11 marla) and 30x60 (called 8 marla).

But the exact Marla is what is standard unit. What I have written above are market terms.

Exactly 1 Marla is 272-1/3 SF but this is “Abadi Deh” measurement used by Patwaris

Marla = 272.25 sq ft was standardized in British rule. This measurement was in use for quite some time. In India, the new standard of 225 sq ft or 25 sq yards is now used as new marla with 272.25 as old marla. In some parts of Pakistan specially patwari system, marla is still the old size (272.25). However, the societies have adopted the new standard. Well marla is not an internationally recognized unit of measurement so it should not be given that much consideration.

Sq ft, Sq yards, Sq meter etc should be considered. Bigger land size such as acre, hectare should also be based on these basic units.
