Best Bank To Deal With In Pakistan
[78 Replies]
Which bank do you feel offers the best service, easiest interaction and best client experience. This can be in terms of account opening/closing, transactions, business hours, amount of locations. Etc.
This information will be very helpful for overseas residents who don't have much products in pakistan.

It depends upon where you are based. There many banks out there with there good points and bad points. Each have their own specialism so it depends upon which would ideally suit you. The most popular banks that have branches throughout most of Pakistan in my opinion the top 4 are: united national, standard chartered, allied bank, and habib.

Im sure others will have their own favourite bank. I have limited knowledge anyway, as i only use 2 banks for mainly doing online transfers. (they required minimum balance and if you go below this then they charge you interest.)
Im sure others who have more experience with pakistani banks and can shed some more light on this particular interesting topic! This topic would ideally help people who want to know which bank to use to get their money from overseas and want to start to invest in real estate, so I think it would be better to go for the bank that offers the best exchange rate etc......Good question!

What do you need a bank for anyway? Is it for loan? Or just basic transaction for withdrawals etc...

I think the choice of bank will primarily depend on the nature of your relationship with the Bank. When you say which Bank is the best you should decide whether you will be dealing with them more by way of deposits or borrowing?
What exactly is your most important requirement from your bank e.g. Quality of customer service, return on deposits, consumer finance products etc.?
I can safely say that there is NO bank in Pakistan which covers all aspects equally well, you will always find trade-offs. So the key decision to make is what is most important to you in your banking requirements and what are the things where you can relax your standards. If you state that clearly, I might be able to provide you some specific advice.

From your post I am assuming that your query is regarding inbound remittances since banks only sell FX to licensed importers at official rates.
For free inbound remittances you might want to check out "UBL Tezraftar" service, its fast, free and gives you a number of recieving options. Here is the link:
https://www.ubldirect.com/Corporate/NRPServices/ubltezraftaar/tezraftaarhome.aspx
Regarding exchange rates, all banks will deal in FX at the benchmarked interbank rates without too much variation. A better option could be to recieve remittance in an FX account and then sell it in the open market after withdrawal. Some banks also have country specific products but they are only suitable for recieving remittances from that country only e.g. Samba Bank for Saudi Arabia

Ubl give the best exchange and free upto a certain amount, which is good. What other good option is there.
Ubl appear to be best so far, are habib far off?

Ubl also provide text banking when doing online remittance, which is good.
Are there any other decent banks that offer good exchange rates?
