Lahore: Following heavy rainfall of up to 182mm in the provincial capital, Parliamentary Secretary for Housing, Urban Development and Public Health Engineering Department (HUDPHED), Sultan Tariq Bajwa, conducted an inspection of key areas including Walton Road and CBD Route 47 to assess the performance of local infrastructure and drainage systems.
Bajwa was accompanied by Central Business District (CBD) Punjab CEO Imran Amin, Executive Director Technical, Director Construction Asif Babar, and Director Project Management Asif Iqbal during the visit. The team also reviewed operations at Disposal Station 1 to evaluate the efficiency of water drainage following the recent monsoon spell.

Expressing satisfaction with the performance of CBD Punjab, Bajwa particularly praised the successful implementation of the upgraded sewerage system at Walton Road. He noted that despite the intensity of the rainfall, the road remained completely free of flooding.
“I have witnessed no flooding on Walton Road. Just a few years ago, it was nearly impossible to commute here during monsoon. After today’s heavy rain, traffic is flowing smoothly—this is the result of thoughtful planning and modern engineering,” Bajwa remarked.
The inspection underscored the importance of well-executed urban development initiatives in mitigating seasonal urban flooding, which has long disrupted mobility in Lahore. CBD officials reaffirmed their commitment to continuing infrastructure improvements and enhancing climate resilience in the city.
