Lahore: The Punjab government has disbursed over PKR 113 billion in loans to 95,600 families under the ‘Apni Chhat Apna Ghar’ Programme, aimed at helping low-income households build their own homes.
According to a spokesperson for the Punjab Housing Department, the initiative will provide loans to a total of 500,000 families across the province over the next five years. The programme is being implemented under the vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to make home ownership accessible for deserving families.

Secretary Housing Punjab Noor-ul-Amin Mengal chaired a review meeting on the programme’s progress, where Programme Director Waleed Baig gave a detailed briefing. The meeting was informed that 82,931 houses are currently under construction, while 20,940 have already been completed. Additionally, 59,510 families have received their second installment to continue construction.
The spokesperson added that the loan disbursement process is being carried out transparently, with strict eligibility verification. Thousands of families from both urban and rural areas have already benefited from the scheme, which continues to transform lives by helping citizens realise the dream of owning a home.
