Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) has approved 14 development projects focused on roads, sports, forestry, revenue management, and other sectors across the province.
According to the details, the approvals were granted during the 7th PDWP meeting for fiscal year 2026-27, chaired by Additional Chief Secretary Planning and Development Department Islam Zeb.
Most of the approved projects relate to road infrastructure, including the construction, widening, improvement, and feasibility assessment of roads in various districts.
In Upper Chitral, the PDWP approved the construction of the 45-kilometre Shughar-Shah Salim Road to improve connectivity in the district. It also approved the widening, improvement, and blacktopping of the 20-kilometre Battai-Khalil Top Road in Buner.
For Khyber district, the approved schemes include the construction of the 11-kilometre Shangar Markaz-Dars Masjid Road via Sandipal and the 8-kilometre Ahmadi-Donga Road in Bara tehsil.
The PDWP further approved the feasibility study, design, and construction of a road connecting the Makhniyal-Islamabad boundary with Changla Gali via Dukhan Palsar in Abbottabad. A feasibility study for the Umarzai Bypass Road in Charsadda was also approved.
In addition, the forum approved a special development package of more than PKR 9 billion for Torghar district under its Phase-II component.
The approved schemes also cover forestry and sports. These include the Billion Tree Afforestation Support Project, establishment of a sports stadium in Upper Chitral, organisation of sports competitions in the merged districts, and the construction, upgradation, and rehabilitation of sports grounds and existing sports facilities.
The meeting also approved the establishment of an Urban Policy Unit and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Public Resource for Inclusive Development Multi-Phase Programmatic Approach. For revenue and land management, the PDWP approved the centralisation of the Land Record Management Information System.
