Minister Naqvi assured residents that the project would not involve cutting any existing trees or constructing new concrete structures. The announcement follows public concerns over the environmental impact of the proposed development.
The upgrade aims to improve recreational facilities at Fatima Jinnah Park, commonly known as F-9 Park, while preserving its existing greenery. The minister said the planned improvements were intended to make the park safer, greener and more accessible for families and visitors.
The proposed facilities include enhanced lighting, upgraded pedestrian pathways and a lake, alongside coffee shops for visitors. Thousands of additional trees are also planned as part of the initiative to expand the park’s green cover.
The clarification came after residents and environmental advocates raised concerns about the development plans, urging authorities to prioritise tree plantation and environmental preservation over construction.
Minister Naqvi earlier announced plans to upgrade F-9 Park along the lines of London’s Hyde Park, along with developing four additional parks in the federal capital.

The proposed improvements would add recreational amenities to one of Islamabad’s prominent public green spaces while retaining its existing trees, according to the assurances given by the interior minister.
