Faisalabad: The District Industrial Relocation Committee has requested the District Revenue Collector to identify and allocate state land for relocating hundreds of industrial units from Faisalabad. The move aims to reduce the adverse impact of industrial pollution on public health.
A recent city survey identified 187 industries contributing significantly to air and water pollution, prompting authorities to prioritize their relocation outside municipal limits. The first phase of the plan will focus on 111 highly polluting industrial units, with larger industries potentially being moved to the Faisalabad Industrial Estate Development and Management Company.

Commissioner Faisalabad, Raja Jahangir Anwar, directed the Revenue Department to provide a report on available government land sufficient for establishing new industrial zones. Officials emphasized the need for a comprehensive strategy to implement the relocation plan effectively.
Authorities are also exploring financial support options, including soft loans for industrialists, and plan to approach the World Bank for assistance with Pakistan’s first major industrial relocation initiative.
The relocation plan has received support from the local Chamber of Commerce and business associations, signaling a coordinated effort to address urban pollution while maintaining industrial activity in the region.
