Gilgit: The Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) government has imposed a ban on the establishment of seasonal hotels and other commercial activities within Deosai National Park for the upcoming tourist season. The move, announced through a notification by the Forest, Parks and Wildlife Department, aims to protect the park’s fragile ecosystem and preserve its natural beauty.
The notification directs hotel owners and managements to comply with the new regulations and refrain from setting up any accommodation facilities or commercial operations within the park. It also warns of legal action against any violations of the ban.

Deosai National Park, a high-altitude alpine plain located at an average elevation of 4,114 meters above sea level, stretches between the Skardu and Astore districts. The park is renowned for its unique biodiversity, wildflowers, and breathtaking landscapes, earning it the nickname “Land of Giants.”
Tourists can continue to visit the park during the annual season from June to November, but the government’s step is expected to ensure minimal human impact on the environment and safeguard the park’s delicate ecosystem.
Authorities emphasized that the restrictions are part of broader conservation efforts aimed at maintaining the park’s ecological balance while allowing visitors to enjoy its natural beauty responsibly.
