Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi has directed authorities to expedite ongoing motorway and expressway projects across the province, emphasizing the development of an integrated road network to improve connectivity and support economic growth.
Chairing a meeting of the Communication and Works Department at the Chief Minister’s House in Peshawar, he reviewed ongoing and proposed infrastructure schemes, including road development projects across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The chief minister instructed relevant officials to prepare proposals for inclusion in the upcoming Annual Development Programme, with a focus on a dedicated road infrastructure plan to improve connectivity in the merged tribal districts.
He said improved road networks would facilitate mobility, strengthen socio-economic development, and enhance regional integration in these areas.
Highlighting the importance of infrastructure in driving sustainable growth, the chief minister reiterated the government’s commitment to providing modern and high-quality transport facilities for the public.
He also directed that all new roads be constructed with proper lane markings and safety features, including cat eyes, to improve traffic safety standards.
Stressing timely execution, the chief minister instructed that all development projects be completed within stipulated timelines, stating that delays would not be tolerated. He added that quality and merit must be ensured in all public sector development schemes.

Officials also briefed the meeting on the overall development portfolio of the Communication and Works Department, including progress on ongoing projects, fund releases, and expenditure status.
