The train was formally launched by Culture and Tourism Minister Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah, who described the initiative as an important step towards reviving heritage-based tourism and encouraging public engagement with Sindh’s ancient civilisation.
Carrying over 100 passengers, the train departed Karachi for Mohenjo-Daro via Sehwan in the morning and reached Larkana through Rohri, Sehwan, and Dadu around 10pm. Passengers are scheduled to visit the historic Mohenjo-Daro site on Sunday morning, with the journey concluding the same night.

Sindh Tourism Development Corporation (STDC) Managing Director Feyaz Ali Shah highlighted that this is the first special tourist train operating from Karachi to Larkana for Mohenjo-Daro visits. He added that the initiative has already received an encouraging response, with efforts underway to further promote tourism in the province.
Minister Zulfiqar Shah said the overwhelming interest from Karachi residents was evident, noting that applications continued to arrive late into Friday night, prompting the addition of an extra coach to accommodate more passengers.
