Murree: The district administration has enforced Section 144 in Murree ahead of the New Year to regulate movement and manage the expected influx of tourists to the hill station.
Under Section 144, certain activities can be restricted to maintain public order and ensure safety. As part of the measures, access to key areas, including Mall Road and GPO Chowk, will be regulated during New Year’s celebrations. On New Year’s night, entry to Mall Road will be limited, and only families will be allowed access, while individuals without families will not be permitted to enter designated zones.

Officials say the restrictions are aimed at crowd management and maintaining law and order during the festive period, when Murree typically sees a sharp rise in visitor numbers from across the country.
Tourist arrivals have already increased as people travel to Murree to welcome the New Year. The administration has advised visitors to follow official guidelines, cooperate with authorities, and plan their travel accordingly to avoid inconvenience.
Section 144 will remain in force for the specified period, and law enforcement personnel will be deployed to ensure its implementation.
