The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has approved Phase 2 of the Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project, with an estimated budget of PKR 20 billion. This expansion aims to extend the existing BRT network by adding new dedicated routes and increasing the fleet with 50 additional buses imported from China.
Phase 2 will cover important corridors including Ring Road and Dalazak Road, designed to improve public transport access and reduce traffic congestion in Peshawar. The project is expected to enhance commuter convenience by providing a more extensive and efficient transit system.

The original Peshawar BRT was inaugurated in 2020 and stands as one of the region’s largest transport initiatives. Despite ongoing construction work on two major buildings from Phase 1, the provincial government has allocated funds for the second phase in the upcoming fiscal year.
Officials say the additional buses and route expansions will help meet the growing demand for affordable and reliable public transportation in the city, contributing to smoother traffic flow and better connectivity for residents.
