Rawalpindi: In a major push to upgrade infrastructure across the Rawalpindi district, the Punjab Government has allocated multi-billion-rupee funds for several road and development projects under its Annual Development Plan (ADP) for 2025–26.
Chairman of the District Coordination Committee and MNA from NA-53, Engineer Qamar ul Islam Raja, confirmed the approvals while addressing a press conference this week. He stated that significant funds had been sanctioned to support various long-awaited projects aimed at improving traffic flow, reducing congestion, and enhancing regional connectivity.

A key highlight of the development plan is the long-delayed Rawalpindi Ring Road project, which has finally received an allocation of Rs. 9 billion. The funds will be released immediately to expedite construction work, according to Engineer Raja.
“This is a historic breakthrough for Rawalpindi,” he said. “The Ring Road will transform the traffic landscape of the city, ease heavy vehicular pressure, and open up new development zones.”
Other major projects receiving funding in the 2025–26 budget include:
- Rs. 2.3 billion for dualization of the Gorakhpur–Khasala Khurad Road,
- Rs. 1.7 billion for the Tulsah Morr Adiala Road Underpass,
- Rs. 3.5 billion for the Khawaja Corporation Flyover and Underpass,
- Rs. 2 crore for Choora Sharif to Malukal Road
- Rs. 15 crore for the Dhok Budhal to Sukho Road, which will directly link Rawat with Chakwal Road
These projects are expected to significantly ease intra-city and inter-district travel while stimulating economic activity along the newly developed corridors.

Engineer Raja also stated that the government is prioritizing rural accessibility and urban expansion alike, ensuring inclusive development across the constituency and beyond. Local communities in the Adiala and Chontra zones are expected to benefit directly from these connectivity upgrades.
The Punjab budget for 2025–26 will be formally presented in the provincial assembly on Monday, June 16, with infrastructure remaining a key focus area in the development agenda.
