LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has approved key agreements with Chinese companies to launch solar panel manufacturing in Lahore and provide advanced vocational and industrial training to 50,000 students.
The agreements were reached during a meeting with a delegation of Chinese firms, including Kunlun Group and Sunder Green Group, focused on boosting industrial cooperation and technology transfer. Officials also received approval in principle for establishing a 1,000-acre industrial estate in Lahore and discussed technology transfer for producing petrochemical products from coal.

The initiatives are expected to create approximately 18,000 employment opportunities in the province. Maryam Nawaz emphasized the government’s role in facilitating businesses rather than directly engaging in commercial activities and highlighted the “Start Today” policy aimed at accelerating economic growth.
Representatives from both Chinese and local companies expressed interest in expanding investment and industrial collaboration in Punjab under these initiatives.
