Quetta: The Quetta Metropolitan Corporation (QMC) has announced a comprehensive plan to restructure and modernise the provincial capital, introducing reforms across key departments and launching initiatives aimed at improving public services and urban management.
Speaking at an event at the Quetta Press Club, QMC Administrator Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Qambrani outlined several measures under the modernisation drive. He said 30 public toilets would be constructed across the city within the next three months, with an additional 60 toilets planned in a subsequent phase. Waiting areas will also be established at 100 locations to facilitate citizens.
To improve traffic management, 100 employees are being trained specifically for traffic-related duties. Curbing congestion, the administration plans to close unnecessary U-turns, designate no-parking zones, and convert certain areas into walking spaces.

Under the initiative, key records—including birth, death, and marriage certificates, as well as comprehensive metropolitan asset data—will be digitised. In collaboration with the University of Balochistan, geo-tagging of all QMC assets is expected to be completed by January 10. A mobile application for the corporation is also set to be launched soon.
Qambrani announced the establishment of two new wings within QMC. The Horticulture Wing will lead a tree plantation campaign in March, deploying staff for maintenance and care. Details of tree species and the metropolitan nursery will be integrated into a modern management system.
The Fine Arts Department will oversee initiatives to enhance the city’s aesthetic appeal, including the installation of statues and wall paintings across Quetta.
The QMC’s plan reflects a broader effort to modernise city management, improve public facilities, and enhance the urban environment for residents.
