Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has drafted an Annual Development Plan (ADP) worth approximately PKR 8 billion for the fiscal year 2025-26, featuring significant transport and urban infrastructure projects. The plan is currently awaiting final approval from the Punjab government.
The proposed ADP includes key initiatives under the “Urban Development Package” and “City Development Package,” with projects recommended by national and provincial assembly members. Major components include the construction of three underpasses at Chandni Chowk, Rawal Road on Murree Road, and Marrir Chowk, alongside a flyover connecting Siddiqui Chowk to IJP Road.

Road infrastructure upgrades form a core part of the plan, including the dualisation of Adiala Road from Khasala Khurd to Gorakhpur, costing PKR 2.539 billion. Additional road improvements cover an 8.5-kilometre stretch from Girja Road to Akbar Chowk (PKR 603.32 million), development on Chakri Link and Talsa Road (PKR 1.298 billion), and upgrades on High Court Road, Bilal Shaheed Chowk, and Scheme-3 Road (PKR 423.24 million).
Under the City Development Package, the plan proposes constructing a multi-storey parking plaza at Liaquat Bagh (PKR 2.533 billion) and an underpass at Stadium Road linking Nanth Avenue to IJP Road (PKR 770.32 million).
Additional projects include restoration of the western alternative route from Chandni Chowk to Holy Family Hospital (PKR 335.04 million), upgrades on Murree Road from Hotel Flashman to Faizabad (PKR 953.25 million), and road improvements across several localities such as Dhoke Khabba, Hameed Khan Road, Rawal Road, and Sher Power Colony (PKR 998 million).

Smaller-scale initiatives include construction of a pedestrian bridge near Benazir Bhutto General Hospital (PKR 66.43 million), service road development from Old Airport to Flying Club Road (PKR 224.23 million), and internal road works in Ghazni Colony, Dosera Ground, and Syedpur Scheme (PKR 247.27 million).
These projects aim to improve urban mobility, reduce traffic congestion, and enhance overall infrastructure in Rawalpindi, aligning with the city’s growing development needs.
