The development work on Kalma Underpass started on Saturday. The officials have started demolishing the green belt (from Jeevan Hana intersection to Kalma Chowk) along the curved stones, on the road leading from Barkat Market to Kalma Intersection. Precious plants and grass along the road will also be uprooted.

The digging work will soon be initiated after demolishing the green belt. The Punjab government has promised to deliver Kalma Chowk underpass within the timeframe of 60 days.

The engineering staff appointed for Metro Bus Project has also almost closed Kalma Chowk intersection in order to complete the remaining stretch of Metro bus corridor, passing from Kalma Chowk on the ground level under dual flyovers.

Meanwhile, traffic police has also devised a traffic diversion plan in order to avoid congestion on the roads due to the ongoing construction.
