Dear Pakistani Brothers and Sisters,
Happy Independence Day!
Upon its creation, Pakistan’s ill-wishers thought it would not last for more than a couple years. It is now celebrating its 68th Independence Day. Let this fact be the answer to all the questions about our beloved country’s future, for we are a strong nation and a resilient people. To paraphrase William Ernest Henley’s Invictus, our head may be bloody, but it is decidedly unbowed.
As it enters its 68th year of existence, let us all pledge to play our part in realising Pakistan’s promise. Our unbeatable spirit is alive and well, so let us pray that God Almighty gives us the strength and fortitude to keep it that way. Celebrate this day, because we have earned it with our sweat, blood and tears.
