Local government elections are near. I hope all islamabad road will be carpeted as government want to show some development.
Margalla road is already being started to be carpeted. F-6 and F-7 Margalla road is carpeted on one side.
If this government can start Metro project and can spend Billions on it, ignoring all roads of the twin cities, then what is the problem in constructing Margalla Avenue too.
It will really benefit thousands of people commuting on daily basis from KPK / Taxila to Islamabad and back. There is no point of greed in it, despite if it benefits some societies/investors. I think we should try to think positive about all, instead of thinking for ourselves only.
More people will travel on Metro every day in comparison with Margalla avenue.

As B.R. Malik mentioned it will depend on CDA's budget as total annual budget is 45 Billion Rupees and total allocation of these projects is 34 Billion Rupees alone. Not sure where they will pull this kind of money unless they spread these project over 3-5 years which will eventually inflate the cost of completion as well.

The Member Planning CDA briefed the Committee regarding projects which are in progress now. He stated that at present the ongoing projects include Infrastructure Development Works at Park Enclave, Islamabad, construction of Khayaban-e-Margallah from G.T Road to Sector D-12, Islamabad, said a press release here.
He also briefed about the future development Projects which have been planned to be taken up in the future in which included the up-gradation and rehabilitation of Islamabad Highway from Zero Point to Rawat, Islamabad, Interchange at the Intersection of Kashmir highway and 7th Avenue, development of Kuri Model Village, construction of underpasses on Faisal Avenue between Sector G-7/G-8 and F-7/F-8, construction of Khayaban-e-Margallah from Constitution Avenue to Murree Expressway and development of sectors I-12, C-13, C-14 and C-15 including construction of pedestrian bridges on various roads.
This has been in the works for a long time and if you go back a couple of years they have announced on several occasions that they will expand Isb highway uptil Rawat. Probably they will hope for a PSDP allocation in the coming budget and if all go’s well execute the project in fiscal year 2015-16. Probably will take a couple of years to make at best.

There is a bit of good news for those having an interest in the Margalla Avenue project. CDA board has approved the revised PC-1 for MA which costs almost twice as much as the previous one (over 1 billion). It includes costs of various missing infrastructure and facilities including payment to Railways for bridge over the railway track. This will hopefully help CDA to resolve some of its issues with the contractor as well.
However, don't get your expectations too high just yet. Getting the PC-1 approved is one thing, getting the funds released from finance is quite another and depends largely on govt priorities.

Yes the news is correct. But this year almost all budget is going to metro. CDA might be able to get some funds next year, but then it has already started the prequalification process for Islamabad expressway expansion project and MA phase II. So lets see what comes first.

Now that Expressway project is started and Peshawar More project is going on… How long will it take to kick start MA project?? I think govt. Can’t start any project in last year of its tenure so that will be another hindrance and if next govt. Is of PTI then they are not interested in infrastructure at all…
