Islamabad – The Capital Development Authority (CDA) held a soft launching ceremony for the Gandhara Heritage and Citizen Center at F-9 Park, Islamabad. The event was chaired by Chairman CDA, Chief Commissioner Islamabad, and DG Civil Defense Muhammad Ali Randhawa, who also served as the chief guest.

The pre-launch gathering included CDA board members from various departments such as administration, finance, environment, planning, engineering, and technology, alongside representatives from the hotel industry and investment sectors. The purpose of the ceremony was to initiate the operational phase of the Gandhara Heritage and Citizen Center under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa emphasized that this project is among the first of its kind in Islamabad, marking a significant step in the city’s development. He highlighted the collaboration with renowned architect Nayyar Ali Dada and other leading firms to ensure a comprehensive and functional design.
The CDA leadership assured that all revenue generated from the center will be reinvested into the project for its upkeep, expansion, and beautification of Islamabad’s green spaces, including F-9 Park. The initiative aligns with the broader vision of Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif and Federal Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi, focusing on maximizing revenue through asset optimization.

Randhawa also stressed transparency and professional execution throughout the project, which aims to preserve heritage, enhance cultural significance, and create employment opportunities. An Expression of Interest (EOI) has been issued to invite further collaboration and ideas from interested parties.
The project is expected to be fully operational by the next fiscal year. In addition to the Gandhara Heritage Center, the CDA is planning other joint ventures, including the development of premium hotel projects to boost Islamabad’s hospitality sector.
The chairman concluded by calling for continued private sector participation and stakeholder cooperation to transform Islamabad into a modern, vibrant, and digitally advanced capital city.T
