Karachi: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Jawed Bajwa, during a meeting with Karachi’s industrialists and businessmen on Wednesday, assured them of his full support in resolving the various issues faced by the business community; particularly in the wake of the rains that flooded the city recently — a news source reported.
The businessmen met the COAS at the Corps Headquarters and held a two and a half hour long meeting, during which they apprised the General of the post-rains situation in the city. The latter took the opportunity to assure the business community that their various problems would soon be resolved and that they would also be provided the requisite support in expanding their trade and export volumes.
The businessmen additionally brought up the issue of the Gas Infrastructure Development Cess (GIDC). The COAS, in his reply, told the meeting attendees to submit a one-page proposal on the matter so that he could discuss the matter further with Prime Minister Imran Khan.
He informed the businessmen that exports and the local industries were top priorities for the Prime Minister and that the two often discussed the matter in their personal meetings. He also assured the business community that he would be taking all the issues and concerns to the Prime Minister so that he could help expedite the progress of trade and industries in the country.
