Karachi: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has announced that all commercial bank branches, including National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) branches handling customs duties, will remain open on Saturday, 29 November 2025, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm to facilitate taxpayers.
The decision aims to ensure the smooth over-the-counter (OTC) payment of government duties and taxes ahead of the monthly deadlines. SBP has instructed NBP-designated branches that manually collect government receipts and payments to settle their transactions with the respective SBP-BSC field offices or head office on the same day, following the same-day clearing cycle.
To further support timely settlements, all instruments related to government receipts and payments presented on 29 November will be collected by NIFT through a special clearing at 5:30 pm, with the clearing fate of these instruments to be provided by 11:30 pm the same night.
The SBP said this move is part of its ongoing efforts to facilitate taxpayers and ensure timely government revenue collection while maintaining efficient banking operations.
