Lahore: The District Development Working Party (DDWP) in Multan on Monday approved a project to upgrade Nishtar Road into a health corridor at an estimated cost of over PKR 316 million.
The decision was taken in a meeting chaired by Commissioner Aamir Karim Khan, where officials presented a traffic and mobility plan aimed at improving access to Nishtar Hospital. The road is frequently used by patients and emergency services, with congestion reported to be affecting ambulance movement and response times.

The project includes road rehabilitation, carpeting, drainage improvements, footpaths and safety measures. Plans also feature walkways, bridge work, street lighting, signage and dividers, along with a structured parking system to manage traffic flow.
Officials said work will begin after completion of an ongoing sewerage scheme in the area. Authorities have been directed to adhere to timelines and maintain construction standards during execution.
In a separate decision, the DDWP also approved a PKR 39 million project to establish a library cafe at Qila Kuhna Qasim Bagh to improve visitor facilities.
