Islamabad: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has been tasked to help the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) in bringing non-filers under the tax net, according to news published on November 24.
To facilitate this initiative, the government has formally established a high-level committee featuring top officials from both NADRA and FBR. This committee is tasked with the integration of data for the registration of potential individuals, with a primary focus on expanding the tax net.
The newly formed data integration committee is set to initiate the exchange of information to register non-filers. The collaboration between FBR and NADRA aims to enhance data-sharing efforts, enabling the determination of actual incomes for existing taxpayers, registration of new taxpayers, and the completion of tax profiles for non-filers.
The news source mentioned that FBR and NADRA have reinitiated a consultative process to bolster tax base expansion.
The FBR is keen on leveraging diverse data sources to augment the tax net effectively. The overarching goal is to reinforce data capabilities in identifying and registering individuals who have not filed income tax returns.
