Islamabad: The Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis has created a ‘Foreign Exchange Remittance Card’ facility for overseas Pakistanis, a news source reported. This initiative will offer ease to overseas Pakistanis using legitimate banking channels to transfer money to the country.
As per reports, the card will equip overseas citizens with duty credits whenever they visit Pakistan. To this end, the Senate Standing Committee on Overseas Pakistanis held a meeting chaired by Senator Hilal-ur-Rehman. During the session, the ministry was lauded for its progress. The meeting also discussed the measures required to spread public awareness regarding this remittance card provision.
The meeting’s members remarked that the card would prove to be of great benefit to overseas Pakistanis. However, they gave recommendations to decrease the duration of the transfer process – in order to make this money-transfer mechanism more popular.
The meeting also discussed the recent New Zealand terror attacks, the ministry’s role in facilitating overseas Pakistanis stranded in such situations, and the welfare mechanism of the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF).
